There is nothing quite like the feeling of coming to on your bathroom floor and trying to figure out what happened. I was walking from my bedroom to the bathroom on Saturday when I got lightheaded. I thought something along the lines of "my blood sugar is probably low" and then my next memory is an electrical popcorn storm in my head and then coming back to awareness on my bathroom floor. I thought, "how did I get here". Then I realized my knee, shoulder and head hurt so clearly I had gone down and not sat down. For the life of me, I cannot recreate how in the world I bruised and rug burned the top of my knee, bruised the front of my shoulder, and bumped the back of my head.
So off to the ER I went and many thanks to Shannon for taking me and staying with me. An EKG, CAT scan and lumbar puncture all came back fine. And, if anyone ever tells you a lumbar puncture is a simple procedure, they just numb your back and grab some fluid, DON'T BELIEVE THEM. It took my poor doctor three or four tries to make it work and I could feel all of the attempts until the last and successful one. I am having an echocardiogram this week just to be sure there are no underlying heart issues. Anyway, all is good and no real diagnosis on why but likely a sudden change in blood pressure, low blood sugar or both.
I am sincerely hoping this is the last medical emergency of the year.
Hi everyone! As "Greetings from (insert location here)" is the way that most of my conversations start these days, it seemed only appropriate to name my blog Somewhere Out There.
