On our first visit to Pearl Harbor, we took a tour of the USS Missouri. I would like to point out that this ship was also featured on a recent episode of Hawaii 5-0. You really should watch it sometime. The ship itself is much bigger in real life than it appears on TV!
For those of you that don't know, the USS Missouri was elected to host the surrender ceremony. Allied commanders, led by Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz and General Douglas MacArthur received the Japanese delegation aboard Missouri on September 2, 1945. It was as always interesting to stand in the place where history was made and to imagine what that must have been like.
