I don't feel a day over 39!

I am officially 40 - in both Australia and the US. Of course, since I have only been 40 for a couple of hours in the US, I plan to celebrate my birthday for many more hours. I had a great day. I started my birthday celebration with a delightful treat from the staff of the Marriott.

I love that they pay attention to things like this. Next up was breakfast where I got happy birthday singing emails from my parents and got to talk to both of them (thanks Mom and Dad!), then it was off for my manicure. I had originally planned for a manicure and a pedicure but check out the photos! My pedicure has survived for three weeks. My secret - Sally Hansen Nail Color in "Diamonds." (Thanks mom for that tip!). After the manicure I shopped for a birthday bauble to commemorate the big 40 but so far have found nothing that has sparked my interest.

From there it was on to Pancakes on the Rocks for a delicious lunch followed by a ride on the monorail. I had never taken the monorail here in Sydney and thought it was as good a mode of transportation as any to get me to the Capitol Theatre for the matinee performance of Wicked. I saw Wicked on Broadway with the original cast who were phenomenal so I was wondering how the Sydney production would stack up and they really did an amazing job. If you ever get the chance to see Wicked - do it! It is definitely worth the price of admission.Fireworks were then launched at Darling Harbour to end the day. OK, it's possible the Fireworks were actually to celebrate the Christmas season but it was my birthday and I choose to think they were for me! Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes. It was an excellent one.
